Today at work

Every day I must admire U23D and the employment policy. One more than the other. Can you guess which?

I thought I might share this one. I kept this reel box from Dark Knight. It was meant only as a spacer. But DKP felt it so important to label everything. Including empty boxes. "This is an empty box." Oh by the way, if you read below this empty box was screened and approved along with the other 42 reels of film. I guess the empty box passed the quality check. There were no visual concerns with this empty box.

Inspecting a 15,000 watt xenon lamp that came in yesterday.

This is Jayson. Jayson is surprised that I am taking a picture of him. If not for the flash, it's really actually quite dark.

I was unhappy with the look of disdain on his face when I snuck a picture of him. So I put him to work scooping up packing peanuts out of a box and into the garbage. If he got any on the floor I would send him to Paul and his pen. Needless to say, Jayson was incredibly careful.

Because of the way I rule the booth kingdom, my team members hate me.

I needed to go and check the CCU and make sure the feed temp was still holding

So far it is but if I see that go up to 90 again, I'll be well, sending Paul over with his pen.

To get there I had to pass through this door. I keep strict security measures.
Damn right. I posted this note 5 years ago and not a soul has dared remove it.

And force will be used to protect this and other areas. Deadly force. Will. Not may. Here at Jordan Commons we take security very seriously. At least I do. While I was out that direction I took a look at the other auditoriums. Just a quick glance. And only what the computers told me. Uh oh.... #4 went to shit for some reason. Just kidding, we took it off the network on purpose for another beta test. Oh look! Yes man is going to start soon in #7! What a freaking stupid show. I hated it. Don't know why exactly. I usually enjoy getting a chuckle out of stupid-funny.

Came back over to the IMAX and checked our LOST monitor. Doesn't it look like something out of the show LOST?

My desk. Finally about to eat some lunch while stewing over the prefeature logs. Woo hoo!!! That's called fun!

Dammit!!! Lunch is broken up because Paul came to attack Aaron in my office. I had to break it up. Paul and that pen. I can't count the victims...

Yay!!!

Just got word that they found the problem with the roof chiller for the IMAX coolant! If this is correct, then a month long issue can be laid to rest. I was so tired of that problem.

John, this blog post is for you by the way because Brandi told me you didn't care about my Alaska posts anymore.

Ya ya, it took a while (long while) for me to finish them but I finally did! Now I will post things EXCLUSIVELY for you! Just because of 13 and 2.

Love ya.

Alaska.... To be continued???

Did you wonder where that came in?

One of the best parts of the trip was the absolute scariest.

We pulled into that campground. There was not a soul there. After the busy campground we had just come from in Denali made it seem strange and obscure. It was foreign. It had been a long night and we were ready to call it. Thing is, there was ONE campsite occupied. The host site. Strangely enough. Meaning we had to deposit payment at the front gate. So, we drove around the endless possibilities of sites checking for left-over wood so we could warm up and cook dinner around it. Even though it was who-knows-what hour. We gathered up enough to decide to stay. We were going to stay anyhow because we were way too tired. That being said, what we did was park the car and walk around different sites. We would split up and each check different campsites for the leftover wood. We did that several times. When we were satisfied, we got into the car, took a direct right turn and not before long we drove straight at a big 800 pound black bear.

Not a big deal right? Wrong. Not 3 minutes prior, we had been searching for leftover campsite wood not 100 feet from this beast. Alone. Yes, alone. When I said we split up and searched individual sites alone, I meant it. I rested the car to a stop and the both of us without even looking at each other knew.

"Holy Shit."

We drove down to the deposit box and I threw the cash in as quickly as I could while I looked over my shoulder the whole time. (The box was down in the direction we scared the bear into, and he didn't seem all that frightened one bit).

An hour later, just as we are getting relaxed and feeling comfortable, we hear the stalking of a large animal around us. It was obvious to us what was going on. This bear was familiar with the campground and its usual givings via human disregard. It was looking for the food it was used to left over here.

We yelled and made many noises.

The night passed, and without incident. But we heard that large noise several times and had to shout.

The next day, Steve noticed a large print on the passenger side of the windshield. It is questionable what it could be, but he was certain it was a bear print. I was the first to discount that theory, but I can't say he was wrong.

Alaska Day 10 Time to go home.

The next morning was wrought with waiting... Waiting for the fucking plane to come in. I had NOTHING to do!!!

I went to the airport museum but they were closed!

Finally I gave up, went to the airport and checked in my freedom. My car. Wandered through the airport and read a book for hours upon hours. In one hallway, they had a sports hall of fame. Boozer is from Anchorage!

Then... just like that... It was over. And my last fucking pic is of Boozer? Shit. No... Won't have it. Here it is: ALASKA:

Alaska Day 9

It was SOOOOOO cold this morning. It took not long for us to tear down the tent even though it was half-frozen.

We drove back to Anchorage and cleaned up again. Steve wanted to relax. So I took off to do my own thing. It was nice to have alone time. However, little did we know, that would be the last time we saw each other for months.
I drove up into the upper neighborhoods of Anchorage:

Went to Earthquake Park.

Alaska Day 8

So we went back into the Kenai again. Back to hope for a night and decide what to do from there. The skies had cleared. Very rare. Atleast for this time of year. Very very very beautiful. We got up the next morning and headed for Whittier.

Here we go to Whittier. You have to go through a mountain for 1 and a half miles. Very awesome drive.

A LONG time later.... the end of the tunnel.

Back to the North side:

Portage Lake

After that we decided to go back South-West towards a couple of campgrounds we had passed several times but never visited between here and Hope. We found a great place. Only problem, no toilet paper!

Well, that might be why.
And I'm just kidding. We always had our own supplies.

Good night Alaska.

We built a really huge-ass fire. Ironically, this was the coldest and most frigid night we had the whole trip.

We put the tent up, but slept in the car. I had to turn the car on a couple of times during the night to warm us back up. I remember telling Steve while we were both in a cold-freeze that I had to turn the car off because "that is the last of the gas we can spare".
